Guests feel at one with nature while creating minimal impact on the surrounding environment during a stay at Morgan’s Rock. An exceptional place offering tranquillity, harmony and relaxation with nature’s influence. As a Virtuoso Preferred Member, the resort invites guests to experience a unique holiday concept in a beautiful haven of sustainability for nesting sea turtles, howler monkeys, scarlet macaws, sloths and kingfishers.

With minimal footprint, guests enjoy newly refurbished ocean view bungalows set into the treetops on a cliff overlooking the private beach which are furnished using sustainably sourced wood and decorated with local artisan artwork. Showers are heated by solar panels and evening breeze beds are designed with a microclimate system which circulates cool clean air gently around the bed, at the same time helping reduce the carbon footprint. This allows the therapeutic sound of the ocean and forest to lull you to sleep! Guests are in for a treat when they dine at Morgan’s Rock. Thanks to a large working farm with cows, chickens, fruit and vegetable gardens, and even a sustainable shrimp farm, Morgan’s Rock sources roughly 60% of its food products from right on the premises. A variety of special

Nicaraguan dishes as well as an array of international flavours and vegetarian meals using the finest in local ingredients are served in the restaurant located on a shady platform surrounded by lush forest overlooking the pool towards the beach. Stunning sunsets accompany delicious cocktails every evening after immersing in an incredible choice of activities to appreciate the surrounding nature while minimising any impact of the human footprint.

An important reason to choose this unique destination is the abundance of activities in nature that are on offer, each considerately preserving Nicaragua’s vital ecosystems, wildlife and culture. On site experiences begin from $32 for an adult learning first-hand the workings of a dairy farm and what’s involved in getting dairy products from farm to table. It’s fascinating for all the family to learn about how organic farming finds the balance between a sustainable ecosystem and satisfying the demand for natural and healthy food, particularly fruit and vegetables. Get involved in the magic of reforestation by planting a tree and finding out which tree monkey, squirrels and sloths prefer. A sunrise bird-watching expedition is not to be missed, quietly observing the estuary as it comes alive with a variety of species. If you enjoy cycling, it’s a great way to explore the reserve and its wonderful wildlife or if you prefer letting a horse do the work you can trek through tropical forest spotting monkeys, sloths and colourful birds in their natural habitat. During rock turtle season keen observers can be woken in the night to witness that incredible moment when a sea turtle comes to lay eggs on the beach or even help the newly born on their way to the sea. For the adventurous there’s a selection of hiking trails that take you to sunset views over the Pacific, the vigorous Palo de Pluma uphill route, a gentle jungle walk through the extraordinary biodiversity of tropical birds, reptiles and other dry forest animals thriving in a variety of plants and trees and even a guest favourite, the Jungle Night Walk to explore the magnificent nocturnal universe. The nearby estuary and mangrove forest provide a haven for tandem kayak exploration surrounded by exotic birdsong at sunrise. Off-site, there are plenty of ocean related excursions from shrimp harvesting to deep-sea fishing for Mahi-Mahi, sailfish and tuna. Learning about the ocean’s inhabitants from whales to dolphins to pelicans is a great day out and it’s even possible to sail all the way to San Juan del Sur along the amazing Nicaraguan Pacific coastline. If you like to catch a wave, hire a board and head for Maderas, a world class beach for experienced surfers. From ziplining through the forest to a tour of Nicaragua’s cultural and nature highlights to the sheer joy of turtle watching at La Flor Nature Reserve, this country offers something incredible for each and every visitor.
