Gourmet Week with Michelin Chef at Top Maldives Destinations

Top Italian Chef Andrea Berton will feature at Cocoon Maldives 8th – 10th August 2019 and newly opened sister restaurant You and Me on 13th to 15th August 2019. The celebrated two-star Michelin chef will host a masterclass, a tasting evening and a set menu gala dinner at each resort for guests inspired by exciting ingredients and gourmet flavours.

Gourmet Week at the luxurious Maldives resort Cocoon has become a popular annual event, showcasing creative culinary delights by renowned chefs from Brasil, Japan and Italy in the past. This year Andrea Berton will celebrate Italian and International fusion cuisine with the gala dinner being hosted in Cocoon’s romantic overwater restaurant Manta at US$100pp and at H2O restaurant at You and Me Maldives, a fully submerged, underwater restaurant with 360-degree view of the marine environment while dining, at a cost of US$250pp. H2O is the only underwater restaurant in Raa Atoll. Andrea additionally offers a tasting night in the main restaurant and an afternoon masterclass, complimentary for all guests not on bed & breakfast stay. Awarded best design hotel in the Maldives, Cocoon Maldives is located on the Lhaviyani Atoll, 30 minutes’ seaplane journey from Male International Airport. A large island with lagoon, and long, sweeping sandbank, perfect for weddings and special occasions. Majestic manta rays, dolphins, turtles and pristine coral reefs, the atoll has some of the best diving and snorkelling points in the Maldives. Andrea is a culinary legend among his peers and one of the top ten chefs in Italy with several successful restaurants. His eye-catching food preparation and dedication to outstanding ingredients combined with his attention to detail, have awarded him four Michelin stars across three restaurants during his 27-year career. Andrea grew up in Friuli, in the warmth of traditional Italian family flavours and a region renowned for its hams and fine wines. From an early age he was fascinated by the transformation of raw ingredients to the finished dish. He progressed from catering school to culinary college to work with chef Gualtiero Marchesi at the famous Via Bonvesin de la Riva in Milan. He also took up the esteemed role cooking for Alain Ducasse at Louis XV in Monte Carlo before returning to Friuli as head chef at Taverna where he gained his first Michelin star. Marchesi and Ducasse were influential in Andrea’s continued progression to establishing the modern and elegant Michelin starred Ristorante Berton in Milan, tempting palates since 2013.
